When an alarm is triggered, an alarm message is displayed in the alarm area located in the
console and the danger is highlighted on the chart or in the console area.
By default a sound signal accompanies an alarm message that does not acknowledged and
the pulse frequency of the flashing of the alarm button is 1 Hz.
IMPORTANT
Switching the audible signal off by clicking the Sound Off button is possible for
warnings but it is not possible to turn off the alarm sound in case of alarm. See the
List of
alarms
for details.
To avoid Alarm in harbour and berthing condition, activate
Harbour mode
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
To acknowledge an alarm double click on the alarm message or click the Acknowledge
button after selection of the message.
The following icons indicate the current state of alarms and warnings.
Active and Not
Acknowledged
Rectified Silenced
Responsibility
transferred
Acknowledged
Alarm
Warning
Alternatively press the Return key to acknowledge all alarms.
REMARK
Alarms should not disappear automatically in case alarm condition is not applicable. It is a
requirement from DNV and BV based on IMO resolution A.830.
ECDIS IN NETWORK
When several ECDIS workstations are connected in a network, acknowledgement of alarm is
synchronized, i.e. when an alarm is acknowledged on one PC this alarm is acknowledged on
all PCs with the exception of user defined alarms which are local on the PC.
