GENERAL
ECDIS900 supports two chart formats: Vector and Raster. The system displays vector charts
under a seamless mode whilst raster charts, such as ARCS from the British Admiralty, are
displayed by default in chart-by-chart mode. When raster charts are in use ECDIS runs in

A type approved ECDIS uses official ENC data (Electronic Navigation Charts) produced by
National Hydrographic Offices. In areas not covered by ENC data, an ECDIS is authorized to
display Official Raster charts (ARCS).

RCDS MODE
When an ARCS chart is selected (Right click on the chart and in the pop-up menu Click Other
charts/ARCS ) the relevant chart will appear on the display and the RCDS mode is indicated in
the windows title bar at the top left hand corner of the screen.
In addition to the name and ID of the charts ECDIS900 displays the datum of the chart and
the datum shift between this datum and WGS84.
REMARK
When no datum information is available for the chart, the system displays a message
“Undetermined” in the window title.
