ROUTE PLANNING AND TURNING RADIUS
The turning radius of a ship depends upon design, loading and environmental characteristics.
The user must carefully select the appropriate turning radius taking into account these
parameters.
The ECDIS can be linked to the ships autopilot to automatically alter course at each waypoint.
The amount of helm ordered by the ECDIS900 will vary according to turning parameters set in
the system.
The helm ordered and rate of turn value NEVER exceed the limits defined by the user. To
complete a prescribed turn at a waypoint it is essential for the turning radius to be set into the
system accurately.
