The ECDIS900 checks the safety of the navigation and triggers an alarm when the value of the
sea depth at the current ship position is lower than the Safety Contour value entered in the
Chart Settings,
Safety
tab.
IMPORTANT
The grounding alarm function is available only when S57 vector chart are used.
• The largest scale data available for the area given is always used by ECDIS900 to
generate the grounding alarm.
• ECDIS is also capable of sensing indications and alarms related to manual update
objects.
