BUOYS
The buoys are equipped with GPS and send their position course and speed every second or
every two seconds.
There are three types of buoys:
• Buoys located at the end of the streamers.
• Buoys located at the start of the streamers . These buoys are very rare for the moment.
• Buoys located at the shoting place close to the ship.
The most important buoys are the two buoys located at the end of the two outler streamers.
The buoys are named from starboard to port 1,2 ..X
• F001 is the starboard buoy
• F0xx is the port buoy.
DISPLAY
Buoys are handled by ECDIS900 as targets and displayed with special icon and vector (as the
normal target but in addition ECDIS900 calculates the course and speed for each buoy) and
which does not trigger any CPA alarms.
Icon: a big triangle with different color (except white) for each buoy and name.
TRACK
It is possible to display on request the track trail of each buoys
Two pixels line width by default with the same color than the buoy is used for the track line.
STREAMERS
ECDIS900 receives information about the streamers every 20 seconds and displays the shapes
of the streamers.
• There is no limitations for the number of streamers (1 to 16).
• Maximum of captors for one streamers: 9, i.e. the shape of a cable can be defined by up to
11 positions.
REMARK
To avoid the positions to jump between two receptions, ECDIS900 calculates every second
intermediate positions of the buoy, which are derived from the previous position of the buoy,
the speed, the course and the time from the last reception.
