Chart Depth
GRID AND BORDERS
To make the grid and borders visible tick on the Grid and Chart borders check boxes in the
Display group.
LAYERS
In compliance with the requirements of International standards for ECDIS class systems, the
display is divided into three categories:
• Base Includes those classes of information which must not be turned off under any
circumstances: coastline, Safety contour, isolated danger, aid to navigation,
recommended routes and traffic separation schemes.
• Standard Includes classes of objects important for navigation and route planning: areas,
limits of fairways and channels, landmarks, warnings.
• All Additional information including classes of other information: depth spots, cables and
pipelines, ferry crossing, names, depth contours deeper than the safety contour.
Extended Standard
In addition a new category called Extended Standard is available. This category includes the
same basic layers than the Standard category with in addition:
• All shoals
• All cables pipelines, fish farms and nature of seabed
The pink circle symbol with a white X inside, that supersedes the shoal digits of dangerous,
pronounced shoals, when the Safety Contour exceeds the depth of the shoal, is deactivated in
Norwegian Pilots Category and the shoal depth is always shown.
All soundings are presented with italic digits, with an inclination of 17 degrees. All rocks
awash between chart datum and 0,5 m below chart datum shall be presented, with the
symbol shown in INT 1, Chapter IK, number 12.
All rocks that covers and uncovers shall be presented, with the symbol * in accordance with
INT 1, Chapter IK, number 11.
REMARK Depth information is not adjusted by tidal height.
COLOUR SCHEME
Click on the down arrow and select a colour scheme. Alternatively press the hot key F8 to
switch from one colour scheme to another.
DISPLAY
A list of display options, any combination of which may be switched on or off. This option,
used in combination with the layer Option, allows selecting the objects to be displayed.
