14.2.2 Minute Volume Alarm Threshold
The default values for the alarm thresholds are:
Low Vmin alarm set to 0ml
High Vmin alarm set to 18000ml
14.2.3 Tidal Volume Alarm Threshold
The default values for the alarm thresholds are:
Low Vte alarm set to 0ml
High Vte alarm set to 30ml
14.2.4 Cycle Fail Alarm Threshold
The cycle fail alarm threshold autotracks the PIP
parameter.
14.2.5 Sub-ambient Pressure Alarm in Non HFO
Modes
The “Sub-ambient Pressure” alarm can be triggered
in non HFO modes due to patient effort when the
mean airway pressures are low. The patient effort
can force the proximal pressure below -2 mbar and
thus trigger the alarm. The ventilator will stop
ventilating but maintain the mean airway pressure
and will restart ventilation after 8 seconds.
14.2.6 HFO Only Ventilator Set Threshold
Alarms (SLE5000 only)
The user needs to be made aware that in HFO Only
mode the ventilator sets 6 alarm thresholds that are
invisible to the user. The thresholds are grouped in
pairs and are as follows.
Unexpected Rise in Max P
Unexpected Drop in Max P
Unexpected Rise in Min P
Unexpected Drop in Min P
Unexpected Rise in Mean P
Unexpected Drop in Mean P
Each threshold is 5mbar above or below the
maximum pressure, minimum pressure and mean
pressure values of the generated oscillatory
waveform.
The alarms are generated when any of the
thresholds are crossed.
These thresholds are to alert the user to changes in
the waveform that would not otherwise generate an
alarm. The example above shows that the
maximum pressure could increase by 15mbar
before crossing the high alarm threshold which is
set to 35mbar. The user will be alerted that the
maximum pressure is increasing after 5mbar of
expansion when the ventilators Max P threshold is
crossed. This safety feature notifies the user to a
variation in the waveform.
The user can
reset the alarm
thresholds by
pressing the
Autoset button
in the alarm
panel.
In HFO only mode the Autoset button will only work
when the Delta P is greater than 5mbar.
Note: When TTV
plus
is exited, the alarms shall
reset to the above defaults.
Note: When TTV
plus
is exited, the alarms shall
reset to the above defaults.
Note: The user must be made aware that the
cycle fail alarm will be triggered when the set
PIP value is close to or equal to (0 to 3 mbar)
the PEEP or CPAP value. This applies to
using the ventilator with a flow sensor and
without. When the proximal airway line or the
ET tube becomes disconnected, the Cycle
Fail alarm can be triggered though no
threshold is present in the pressure
waveform window. This is a safety feature.
Note: The cycle fail alarm threshold will not
be displayed when the TTV
plus
function has
been turned on, but the cycle fail alarm is still
active. The alarm is triggered when the
proximal airway line becomes disconnected.
Note: P = Pressure
