CAUTION
Beforeopeningthehydraulicsystem,operateallthehydraulic
controlstoreleasesystempressureandavoidinjuryfromthe
pressurizedhydraulicuid;refertoReleasingPressurefromthe
HydraulicSystem(page4–5).
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdeck,shutoffthe
engine,settheparkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Loosen,butdonotremovethelocknut(item8inFigure66)thatsecuresthe
wheelhubtothewheelmotor.Also,loosenthewheel-lugnuts.
IMPORTANT
Beforeliftingthemachinewithajack,reviewandfollowJacking
Instructions(page1–7).
3.Liftthemachinewithajacktoremovethefrontwheel,supportthemachine
withjackstands.
4.Removethefrontwheelfromthemachine;refertoRemovingtheWheel
(page6–14).Removethewheelspacer(item11inFigure66).
IMPORTANT
Donothitthewheelhub,wheel-hubpuller,orwheelmotorwitha
hammerwhileremovingorinstalling.Hammeringcandamagethe
wheelmotor.
5.Ensurethatthelocknut(item8inFigure66)onthewheelmotorshaftis
loosenedatleast2turns.Useahubpuller(refertoSpecialTools(page
4–27))toloosenthewheelhubfromthewheelmotor.
6.Removethelocknutandwheelhubfromthemotorshaft.Discardthelocknut.
7.Locateandretrievethesquarekey(item7inFigure66).
8.Cleanthehydraulictubeendsandttingsonthewheelmotortoprevent
contaminantsfromenteringintothehydraulicsystem.
9.Loosenandremovethehydraulictubesfromthettingsonthewheelmotor.
Allowthetubestodrainintoasuitablecontainer.
10.Installcleancapsorplugsonthehydraulictubesandttingstoprevent
systemcontamination.
11.Supportthewheelmotortopreventitfromfallingduringremoval.
12.Removethe4bolts(item14inFigure66)thatsecurethewheelmotorto
thesteeringfork.
13.Removethewheelmotorfromthesteeringfork.
14.Ifthehydraulicttingsaretoberemovedfromthewheelmotor,markthe
ttingorientationforassemblypurposes.Removethettingsfromthewheel
motoranddiscardtheO-ringsfromthettings.
