4. Control and Automation System
The SCR automation system is a common control system for the full SCR system.
Each module is connected to this control system through bus connections or
hard-wired connections. The plant/ship and engine automation is also connected to
the SCR automation system. In the control system, all functions and control are
automatic. Alarms, values and system status data are sent through the bus to the
plant/ship automation system.
There are two control devices for the SCR system:
D SCR Valve Control Cabinet E48 (Fig. 10). The primary function of this cabinet is
to control the air and exhaust gas mass flow. For more data, refer to
paragraph 4.1.
D SCR automation cabinet. The primary function of this cabinet is to control and
monitor the SCR. For more data, refer to paragraph 4.2.

The configuration of the SCR control and automation network is shown in Fig. 11.
4.1 SCR Valve Control Cabinet E48
An embedded system controls the functions of the SCR Valve Control cabinet E48
(see Fig. 10). The SCR system valves and the related signal that monitors the
exhaust mass flow are connected to SCR Valve Control cabinet E48.
For data about the valve functions, refer to Table 1 and paragraph 3.
The SCR Valve Control Cabinet E48 is connected to the Engine Control
System (ECS) and the Alarm and Monitoring System (AMS) and gives the valve
position and feedback data.
4.2 SCR Automation Cabinet
An embedded system controls the functions of the SCR system. The SCR automation
cabinet has an operator interface where you can see different menus and data about
the system.
For more data, refer to the documentation of the SCR system supplier.
