Note: For engines with two-piece
crankshaft, use the one support
(94322A) and one support (94322)
to disassemble the crosshead
which is in the middle. For engines
with one-piece crankshaft, use the
two supports (94322A) for each
crosshead.
39) Put the lubricating oil SAE30 to the
threads and contact surfaces of the
bolts (1, Fig. 9) on each support
(94322A).
40) Attach the two supports (94322A) to
the columns and secure with the two
bolts (1) on each support (94322A).
Note: The two supports (94322A) hold
the weight of the crosshead while
you move the connecting rod.
41) Use an applicable torque wrench to
torque the bolts (1) to 150 Nm.
42) Use the spur-geared chain block
(94017-051) and the two spur-geared
chain blocks (94017−040) to carefully
lower the crosshead so far that the
contact surface of the crosshead is
above the cup (3) and lower the
crosshead on to the supports (94322A).
43) Tighten the special screws (2).
Note: Make sure that the primary load
stays on the chain of the
spur-geared chain block
(94017-051).
44) Use the spur-geared chain blocks to lift
up the crosshead.
Note: During the step below, slowly
move the connecting rod to the
exhaust side.
45) On the fuel side, gradually loosen the
manual ratchet (94016-005, Fig. 10). At
the same time, keep tension on the
chain of the manual ratchet on the
exhaust side.
46) Continue with the step 45) until the
connecting rod (1) touches the wooden
underlay (2).
47) Remove the manual ratchets
(94016-005) from the fuel side and
exhaust side.
48) If the supports (94322A, Fig.11) were
installed, remove it as follows:
a) Loosen the special screw (2) on
one support.
b) Remove the special screw (2).
c) Gradually loose the bolts (1).
d) Use approved equipment or
sufficient personnel to remove the
support (94322A) from the
column.
