ADJUSTING THE ENGINE IDLING SPEED
NOTE:
Prior to adjusting the engine idling speed, the
air filter element should be clean, and the engi-
ne shoud have adequate compression.
1. Start the engine and let it warm up for seve-
ral minutes.
2. Connect:
engine tachometer
(onto the spark plug lead)
3. Check:
engine idling speed
Out of specification

Adjust.
4. Adjust:
engine idling speed

a. Remove the center panel.
b. Turn the pilot air screw in or out until it is
lightly seated.
c. Turn the pilot screw out the specified num-
ber of turns.
d. Turn the throttle stop screw in direction
a or b until the specified engine idling
speed is obtained.
e. Install the center panel.

5. Adjust:
throttle cable free play
Refer to “ADJUSTING THE THROTTLE
CABLE FREE PLAY“
