Emergency Shutdown
If the CATALYS® System becomes unresponsive during system operation, press the emergency
laser stop button. Pressing the emergency laser stop button rapidly disables all laser emission,
disables the Mobile Patient Bed or patient chair, and disables the LIQUID OPTICS™ Interface
vacuum system, thereby ensuring that the system and laser are in a safe state and that no laser
emission is possible. Press the LOGOUT button on the Home Screen and the SHUTDOWN button
on the Login Screen to completely shut down the system. Turn the key switch to the (off)
position before restarting the system.
To restart the CATALYS® System after an emergency shutdown, rotate the emergency laser stop
button to disengage it, and then start the system using the key switch.
WARNING
If the system becomes unresponsive at any time, press the emergency laser stop button and turn
the key to the (off) position.
NOTES
The emergency laser stop button is a latching switch that will remain depressed until the button
is rotated to disengage it.
When the emergency laser stop button is pressed, the Mobile Patient Bed goes into safety
timeout, and you have 180 seconds to lower the bed using the control pendant or joystick
control. Pressing the (connect) button on the control pendant overrides the 180‐second
timeout and enables all bed controls. If necessary, you can manually lower the headrest frame,
as described in Adjusting the Headrest Assembly on page 250, and manually unlock the casters,
as described in Manually Unlocking the Casters on page 257.
