Software Release: cOS 5.00
4.5 Regulatory Compliance Safety Features
The Mobile Patient Bed has been designed to include the following compliance safety features:
Emergency Stop
The Mobile Patient Bed has an emergency stop button that rapidly disables electrical power to
the bed motors when pressed.
Protective Housing
The Mobile Patient Bed has a protective housing that prevents unintended human access to high
voltage components. This housing is to be opened only by trained OPTIMEDICA personnel.
Caster Lock Buttons and Lock Foot Pedals
The Mobile Patient Bed has three caster lock buttons (one on the control pendant, one on the
backrest, and one on the footrest) and two lock foot pedals that activate caster lock mode when
pressed. Caster lock mode simultaneously locks both the rolling and swivel mechanisms on all
four casters to immobilize the bed.
Manual Caster Locks
The Mobile Patient Bed casters have manual locks that enable you to manually unlock the
casters if the Mobile Patient Bed becomes unresponsive and/or the emergency stop button is
pressed.
Continuous Activation Controls
The Mobile Patient Bed motion controls on the control pendant and control joystick require
continuous activation to function.
Electrical Fault Detection Circuitry
If the electronic system detects a fault condition when the Mobile Patient Bed is connected to
the CATALYS® System, laser exposure cannot occur. The CATALYS® System safety shutter is
closed, and the laser is disabled.
Location and Definition of Regulatory and Other System Labels
As required by certain regulatory bodies, appropriate warning labels have been mounted in
specified locations.
