4.4 REMOVING AND INSTALLING GEARBOX FRONT COVER OIL SEAL
Removing gearbox front cover oil seal
1. Remove the gearbox.
2. Remove the release mechanism.
3. Remove the gearbox front cover (3).
4. Prise the oil seal (2) out of the gearbox front
cover. Inspect the O-ring. If it is damaged,
replace the O-ring.
Installing gearbox front cover oil seal
1. Fit the oil seal using special tool
(DAF no. 1240498) (1) at the right depth in
the gearbox front cover (3).
2. Install the gearbox front cover (3) with the
O-ring on the gearbox. Tighten the
attachment bolts to the specified torque.

3. Fit the release mechanism.
4. Fit the gearbox.
