Control Room Monitor Section
Located on the upper half of Control 24’s right
side, below the Transport display, this section
contains master volume, muting and other con-
trols for all monitoring modes. Monitoring con-
figurations can be selected and sent to multiple
sets of speakers and headphones.
You can also route specific external sources
(such as two-track return) or pairs of channels
from the Pro Tools Audio Interface.
The Demo Session is routed to the first two
channels of the Audio Interface; therefore select
PT 1&2 beneath PRO TOOLS SOURCES. While
the song is playing, slowly bring up the MAIN
MONITOR LEVEL knob to a comfortable listen-
ing level.
DIM
lowers the control room volume by 20dB,
and restores the levels when you press it again.
MUTE ALL
mutes the entire monitor mix and
toggles back to previous settings when pressed
again. Neither of these buttons affects head-
phone levels.
MONO
toggles the main monitor mix between
mono (when lit) and stereo.
This section is described in more detail in the
previous chapter, Chapter 6, “Control Room
Monitor Section.”
Transport Controls
The lower right sections of Control 24 contain
many features that are equivalent to the Trans-
port window in Pro Tools (such as the tape ma-
chine-style buttons for Play, Rec, and STOP, as
well as transport-related functions such as Pre-
Roll and Loop Play). Also included in this area
are a numerical keypad, navigation arrows, and
the large SCRUB/SHUTTLE wheel.
You can also type in a Counter location on the
numeric keypad and press Enter to jump to that
location.
Primary Transport Buttons
The Transport buttons correspond to transport
functions in Pro Tools. These buttons are:
REWIND
rewinds through the session beginning
from the current cursor position.
FAST-FORWARD
fast-forwards through the ses-
sion beginning from the current cursor position.
STOP
stops playback.
PLAY
begins playback from the current Timeline
or Edit location.
RECORD
arms Pro Tools for recording. Exact
function is determined by the current Pro Tools
record mode (QuickPunch, Wait for Note,
Pause).
