System Requirements
To use Control 24 with a Pro Tools system, you
need:
Pro Tools 24 MIX/MIXplus or Pro Tools 24
system, with Pro Tools 5.1 or later.
Macintosh 9500 or 9600 Power Macintosh, or
any qualified Macintosh G3 or G4 computer.
MacOS 9.04 or later.
The Control 24 Personality file (a DAE exten-
sion), included with Pro Tools.
An available Ethernet connection in the host
computer.
(Optional) Audio cables for Control 24 moni-
toring.
Ethernet Connections
The Control 24 unit can be connected directly
to the built-in Ethernet port on all qualified
Macintosh computers. A special “crossover”
Ethernet cable is included to connect
Control 24 to a dedicated computer without
any other Ethernet use.
If a Control 24-equipped system is to be con-
nected to an Ethernet network (for e-mail, file
transferring or other typical uses), you will need
a standard Ethernet cable connected to the com-
puter through an Ethernet hub. Optimal perfor-
mance, however, can be obtained by use of an
Ethernet card dedicated to Control 24 commu-
nications.
For a more detailed discussion on Ethernet is-
sues, see “About Control 24 and Ethernet Per-
formance” on page 13.
Audio Cables for Control 24
Monitoring
You will need up to seven standard 25-pin D-
Sub wiring harnesses to access the entire array of
analog inputs and outputs available in
Control 24.
There are likely to be simpler configurations,
however, that will give you the flexibility and
features you need without having to access ev-
ery possible input or output available on
Control 24.
A fully-functional setup, for example, might
only require basic playback monitoring from
your audio interface and simple control room
listening features. In this case, you could proba-
bly get by with only two D-Sub connectors.
For more information on input and output op-
tions available in Control 24, see “Audio Con-
nections” on page 13.
