About Breakout Cable Harnesses
25-pin D-Sub cable harnesses are available
through many vendors (contact your Digidesign
dealer for information), and can be custom-
made to your specifications by specialty shops.
Considerations for these harnesses should in-
clude determining which Pro Tools audio inter-
faces will be dedicated to Control 24 inputs and
outputs (888-series interfaces, for example, have
XLR, while the 882-series are hi-z 1/4” inputs
and outputs), and what kinds of connectors are
required for the variety of input and output con-
nections you want to make.
Control 24 Back Panel
This section contains an overview of the Control 24 back panel connectors.
PRO TOOLS MONITOR IN Inputs
This 25-pin D-Sub connector carries the follow-
ing Control 24 input signals (and optional Sur-
round configurations):
• Pro Tools 1 Input (Left)
• Pro Tools 2 Input (Right)
• Pro Tools 3 Input (Center)
• Pro Tools 4 Input (Sub)
• Pro Tools 5 Input (Left Surround)
• Pro Tools 6 Input (Right Surround)
These inputs should be connected directly to
the corresponding outputs on your Pro Tools
audio interface. The inputs can be patched into
the monitor mix as a complete Surround moni-
toring setup, or in single or multiple pairs in ste-
reo mode. Dedicated buttons in the Control
Room Monitor section enable quick switching
between modes, as well as isolating specific pairs
of outputs in stereo mode.
The thread type of the screw connection on
the 25-pin D-Sub connectors is a Standard
(non-metric) 4-40 thread.
