1.5.2 Sample Filter Holder
Refer to Figure 1 for the location of sample filter holder. Within the sample filter holder is a particulate
filter. The particulate filter is a Teflon 5-micron (µm) filter with a diameter of 47 mm. This filter prevents
all particles larger than 5 µm from entering the measurement system that could interfere with sample
measurement.
Note: The 5-micron filter element should be replaced on a regular basis.

1.5.3 Ozone Scrubber
Refer to Figure 1 for the location of Ozone scrubber. The Ozone scrubber is used to eliminate the Ozone
from sample air. It uses manganese dioxide (MnO
2
) as the catalyst to selectively eliminate Ozone in
the sample air, while allowing all other interferent gases to reach the measurement cell and absorb
the UV radiation. Thus, the scrubber is used to remove the effect interferent have on the final O
3
measurement by correcting for their UV absorption.
