50 = A × 49.98 + B
16 = A × 15.99 + B
Solve for A:
50.00 16.00 = 34.00
49.98 15.99 = 39.99
34 = A × 33.99
A = 1.00029
Solve for B:
50.00 = 1.00029 × 49.98 + B
50.00 = 49.99449 + B
B = 0.00551
Concentration slope (A): 1.00029
Concentration offset (B): 0.00551
14.9 Energy flow
Energy flow is the energy content of the process gas flowing through the pipe per units of time. The Model
5700 can compute the energy flow by polling for calorific value using a HART connection. The calculated
energy flow is available on the Energy Flow process variable.
14.9.1 Set up energy flow
Prerequisites
If you plan to poll an external device, the primary mA Output (Channel A) must be wired to support HART
communications.
If you plan to use the mA Input for the Calorific Value data, Channel D must be available for use and must
be wired to the external device providing Calorific Value.
Procedure
1. From the display, go to Menu > Configuration > Process Measurement > Energy Flow.
2. Select Units for Calorific Value and Energy Flow.
Set the Calorific Value units to match the Calorific Value units on the polled device (HART) or input
device (mA Input).
3. Set up polling or mA Input for the Calorific Value.
