Mixed Size Originals
(Scanning Different Size Documents Simultaneously)
You can simultaneously scan different size documents onto paper that matches the
respective sizes of the documents.You can also specify the size of the paper to scan
so that scan is made on the same size of paper.When using the document feeder to
scan, you can match the scan size to use for each document.
Important • Always load the A5-size documents vertically.
• When loading a B5 size document with A3 or A4 size documents in a vertical direction, place
the B5 document also in a vertical direction. The combination of document sizes other than
these may cause paper jams.
• The recommended combinations of document sizes are A4 portrait and A3 landscape, or B5
portrait and B4 landscape. When you the combination of document sizes other than these,
documents may not be fed or scanned properly.
Note • When setting the [Reduce/Enlarge] to [Auto %] and specifying an [Output Size], the scan is
performed with automatic reduce/enlarge to the specified size. However, as the scanned
document is not rotated, the document image is reduced or enlarged with the orientation of
the original and within the selected size.
Example: Scanning an A3 landscape document setting the output size to A4 portrait, the
output becomes A5 landscape image on A4 portrait.
If you want A4 scanned documents when the originals are mixed with A3 and A4, load
originals in landscape orientation and set [Output Size] to A4 landscape.
• When a document size cannot be detected automatically, a message prompting document
size entry appears.
1 Select [Mixed Size Originals].
2 Select [On] or [Off].

When scanning documents of different sizes, the machine automatically detects the
size of each document.
