3.1.3 Biopsy Device Components
The Brevera breast biopsy device consists of a sterile, disposable biopsy needle that locks
into the non-sterile, Brevera reusable device driver. The biopsy needle includes a tissue
filter assembly to collect the biopsy cores for imaging.
Device Driver Components
The device driver is the electromechanical component of the biopsy device. When
connected to the biopsy needle, the device driver rotates and advances the cutting
cannula. The device driver also arms and fires the biopsy needle.

Warning:
Do not touch the metal parts of the device driver and the patient
simultaneously.

Note
Store the device driver on the top of the console in the device driver holder. Wrap the
device driver cord (with the remote control) clockwise around the corresponding cord
management plate on the back of the console.
