7.9 Conclude the Procedure
1. Confirm that the console is in Standby mode.
2. Open the tissue filter drawer.
3. Remove the tissue filter cover from the tissue filter assembly.
4. Place a dry tissue filter cap on the tissue filter. (The tissue filter cap is provided with
the biopsy needle.)
5. Remove the used filter from the tissue filter assembly and the tissue filter drawer.
6. Place the used tissue filter in a specimen jar on the surface of the formalin.
7. Slowly submerge the tissue filter to allow the formalin to enter the chambers and air
to escape. (Do not allow the tissue filter to float on top of the formalin.) Prepare the
specimens for pathology per facility policy.
8. Replace the cover on the tissue filter assembly.
9. Release the tissue filter assembly from the locator pins and temporarily leave in the
drawer.
10. Remove the suction tubing from the tubing guides on the two sides of the drawer.
11. Remove the suction tubing from the suction canister.
12. Remove the saline tubing from the saline pinch valve. Remove the spike from the
saline bag.
13. Gather all the tubing and the tissue filter assembly and discard in the sharps
container with the previously discarded biopsy needle.
14. Dispose of the saline bag per facility policy.
15. Dispose the needle guide per facility policy.
16. Close the tissue filter drawer.
17. Disconnect the vacuum line assembly from the suction canister, and close the suction
canister ports. Dispose of the suction canister per facility policy for biohazardous
waste.
18. After log out and shut down, perform the recommended cleaning and disinfection
procedures. Refer to the section Maintenance, Cleaning, and Disinfecting on page 99 for
more information.
