The Cisco MDS 9509 and 9506 Multilayer Directors support 1Gbps and 2Gbps
Fibre Channel switch connectivity and intelligent network services to help
improve the security, performance and manageability required to consolidate
geographically dispersed storage devices into a large enterprise SAN.
The Cisco MDS 9509 Multilayer Director offers dual Supervisor Modules with up
to 128 Fibre Channel ports in a 7U enclosure.
The Cisco MDS 9509 Multilayer Director offers dual Supervisor Modules with up
to 224 Fibre Channel ports in a 14U enclosure. Highlights of this family of
directors include:
2Gbps switching: 9509 with 16 to 224 ports; 9506 with 16 to 128 ports
High-availability design with redundant, hot-swappable fans, power supplies,
automatic failover, concurrent firmware activation and call-home capability
Up to 32Gbps aggregate speed with PortChannel

IBM TotalStorage SAN Director 2109-M14/M12 and Cabinet 2109-C36
IBM TotalStorage SAN Switch M14 is a next generation enterprise director which
provides high availability, scalability to 128 ports and an expandable architecture
for higher speeds and additional functions. It provides advanced features enable
enterprise infrastructure simplification and business continuity solutions. It also
has compatibility with prior generation IBM SAN Switches and the Brocade
Silkworm family of switches.
IBM TotalStorage SAN Switch M12 provides one or two 64-port, 2 Gigabit per
second director with high availability features including non-disruptive CP failover
and firmware activation. It provides fibre channel switching for high availability,
scalable large enterprise SANs with a common management system. Advanced
Security can help create a secure storage network infrastructure. Compatibility
with the Brocade Silkworm family of switches can enable interoperability with a
wide range of non-IBM server and storage devices. Highlights of this family of
directors include:
