3.4.2 Ventilation Opening
An opening for ventilation of the interior is located in the top centre
of the rear of the casing. The purpose of ventilation is to supply
bacterial cultures with oxygen from the air.
The opening with a diameter of 22 mm is covered by a metal plate
with plug and O-Ring. The metal plate can be mounted in two dif-
ferent ways:
If the plug (1) is directed inwards and the bevelled parts of
the plate (2) point outwards, the plate seals the opening.
In contrast, if the plate is mounted in such a way that the
bevelled parts face the equipment, this results in a ventilation
slot.
The equipment is always delivered with the ventilation opening
half open (the metal plate is mounted in such a way that there is
a ventilation slot). If a significantly higher gas consumption is de-
tected when using the CO
2
option, the ventilation opening can
be closed if necessary. Please note that closing the ventilation
opening can lead to a lack of oxygen in the culture and therefore
3.4.3 Air Vents
The equipment has air vents on the right-hand side and the rear of
the casing. When setting up the equipment, you must ensure that
these air vents remain unobstructed (keeping a minimum distance
of 80 mm to walls or objects on either side) in order to ensure that
the exhaust air can be extracted without obstruction and none of
the components overheat.
