30 General Maintenance
Hopper
The area behind the packer SHOULD be cleaned out EVERY DAY. The packer will not work
properly if waste accumulates in this area; this could cause severe damage to the packer and other
related parts.
Cleaning the Hopper
This section explains how to properly clean the hopper section of the truck body.
NOTE: The following procedure may vary depending on what type of chassis the body is attached to
and what types of options are installed on the vehicle (e.g. crusher panel, glass compartment,
automated arm, etc.).
A. Units with a HELPING-HAND™ arm
NOTE: For units with no HELPING-HAND™ arm, go to page 35.
To clean the hopper of an E
XPERT™ vehicle equipped with a HELPING-HAND™ arm, apply the
following procedure:
1. Park the EXPERT™ on safe level ground.
2. Apply the parking brake.
3. Using the Packer Control Selector switch on the control panel (see Figure 3-1), select the right-
hand side packer control station.
