Figure 18. Make sure to leave a two fingers space between the cows
neck and the belt
6.2.1.5 Habituation
Give the animal the opportunity to remain for a few hours in the
environment of the milking robot before leading her into the robot box.
This allows her to get used to the noises and movements of the robot as
well as the opening and closing of the gates. Seeing other cows enter
the box quietly will increase the confidence of the new cows.
6.2.1.6 Lead the Cow into the Box
There are two possibilities for closing the rear gate. These are closing
the gate as soon as the weigh floor detects an object or as soon as the
robot identifies the cow.
WARNING
Be aware of unexpected cow movements. A cow may convey
substantial powers beyond your control to (moving) parts of the
Astronaut milking robot.
It is recommended to immediately close the rear fence upon
identification at the start of the training period.
