Issue 1: 0208
12.8.2: Valve trouble shooting
The knife valve shown has a relief valve which allows the pressure to drop to 50
bar in the accumulator, which is chopping pressure. It should hold at this
pressure while a bale is being formed.
Warning! Before removing any components ensure pressure is reading O
bar on the pressure clock on the front of the machine.
If pressure is dropping:
1. The relief valve (B) is not working correctly.
2. Ensure it is not loose in the knife valve.
3. Remove the plastic cover (A) and adjust the screw inside inwards.
4. Test knives again by putting them up and wait to see if pressure drops
below chopping pressure.
5. If this does not work replace the relief valve (B)
If pressure will not drop:
1. Ensure the free flow return to the tractor is connected and working correctly.
Check quick release fittings
2. If this does not work remove the return to tank hose at the valve end
(marked T Fig. 6) to eliminate any hose blockage.
3. The final check is the 0.7 mm orifice underneath the relief valve.
4. Remove relief valve Heed previous warning!
5. With a 3 mm allen key remove the grub screw from the aluminium valve. It
is approx. 30 mm into the knife valve.
6. There is a 0.7 mm hole in the grub screw, ensure it is free and clean.
7. Replace all components and re test knives.
