McHale Fusion 2 round baler wrapper technical service manual
Issue 1: 0208
Function
Safety circuits must never be disabled in any way.
The dispenser access door and the rear tip roller
safety switches prevent rotation of the dispenser ring
if the access door is open or the tip roller is lowered.
The forward rotate and reverse rotate outputs from
the control box to the hydraulic valve are fed through
series connectors, closed when safe contacts on the
safety switches. If the control box outputs a rotate
signal and motor speed pulses are not returned
shortly the program stops and a ‘Safety switch’ error
is displayed.
Testing
In manual mode pushing forward or reverse rotate
buttons on the control box should cause either
forward or reverse rotation.
The safety switches should first be visually inspected,
the switch operating button should be fully
depressed - contacts closed - for operation.
If the forward button is pushed and the dispenser ring
rotates a little way before stopping and displaying a
‘Safety switch’ error the problem is likely with the
motor speed sensor or it’s magnets.
If there is no rotation when the button is pushed the
problem can be with the safety switches or the PWM
constant current module.
The reverse circuit is simpler, only two series
connected switches. The PWM module has no active
part in the reverse rotation circuit but the ground
circuit is routed through it’s sensing resistor.
Viewing the Forward and Reverse rotation circuit
diagrams will make this clearer. Please refer to
11.5.6 and 11.5.7.
