■ Turning on the power to operate with the built-in battery
1. Confirm that the battery switch is turned on.
2. Press the [POWER] key.

NOTE The icon indicating the remaining battery power in the built-in battery is displayed in
the touch panel.
Charge the battery if the filled portion of the icon indicating the remaining battery power is
less than that in the figure below.

The power cannot be turned on if there is very little remaining battery power. The power can
be turned on once the battery has been recharged.
TIP • For information about charging the built-in battery, refer to section 11.3, “Recharg-
ing the Battery”.
• In case the battery can not be charged for the first use of the SJ-301 after
purchase, force charge the battery as it may be excessively discharged.
For details of force charging, refer to section 11.3, “Recharging the Battery
■ Force charging”.
NOTE Normally, the battery switch should be left on. If the SJ-301 will not be used for
an extended period (2 to 3 weeks or more) it should be turned off.
If the battery switch is turned off, the measured results and conditions will not be
saved.
