When the printer characters become faint it may be because:
● The ribbon has jammed
● The ribbon has dried out (possibly because the cassette has been
stored in the wrong conditions - see Maintenance section.)
● The ribbon character life has been exceeded (error message will
report when the ribbon character life has almost expired or has
completely expired).
To replace the printer ribbon proceed as follows:
1 Open the exterior of the ATM.
2 If your ATM does not have the auto-supervisor option, press the
switch on the operator panel to the supervisor position.
3 Access the passbook printer as described in Chapter 1, ‘Getting
Started’.
4 Press down the green tabs on either side of the ribbon carrier
and then raise the ribbon carrier.
