Lasair II Particle Counter Operations Manual Page 8-1
Chapter 8
Statistics Mode
This chapter describes setup and operation of the Lasair II particle counter for use
with certification statistics. When used for that purpose, it is said to be in the
Statistics Mode. If you want to use the particle counter for routine sampling, see
chapter 4, “Setup” and Chapter 5 “Operation.” Depending on the chosen
certification standard and other variables, the Lasair II particle counter will
determine the minimum requirements to certify a cleanroom.
Lasair II particle counter supports the following standards:
• ISO 14644-1
• EU-GMP
• Simultaneous EU-GMP and ISO 14644-1
• FS-209E
• BS5295
In addition, Average mode calculates simple statistics on data from one or more
locations.
The settings that may be changed vary with the standard (or Average mode). If a
standard does not allow change to a variable, that variable will be disabled in the
setup screen.
Statistics Mode Features
The Lasair provides the following features while in statistics mode:
• Valid parameter ranges are automatically calculated
• The room name is saved as part of the data set. This is useful for performing
certifications of several areas at one time, then downloading Comma Separated
Value (CSV) data at a later time for off-line calculations.
• A Sample Acknowledge mode allows the user to verify each sample before
accepting it as valid data. Rejecting the sample results will prevent its use in the
statistical calculations.
• The Auto-Increment mode provides a means of automatically identifying
sequential sample locations, numerically without needing to manually input and
select location names.
