Lasair II Particle Counter Operations Manual Page 2-3
To install the battery pack:
1 Remove the battery from its packaging.
2 Position the battery pack with the label up and write the date you are placing the
battery into service into the space provided on the label.
3 Open the battery chamber door on the back of the particle counter.
4 Turn the battery retainer to a horizontal position.
5 With the battery contacts entering first and the battery label facing up, slide the
battery pack into the particle counters battery chamber until it stops.
6 Rotate the battery retainer to a vertical position. The retainers edge should
engage into a provided channel.
7 Ensure that the battery is firmly in place by tipping the particle counter or by
trying to pull the battery out without turning the battery retainer to a horizontal
position.
8 Close the battery chamber door.
NOTE:
To completely remove Lasair II particle counter’s power, the
battery pack must be removed.
Connecting the Sample Probe, 310 and 510 Versions
The Lasair II particle counter comes with a standard sample probe, which can be
connected in one of the following two ways:
directly to the sample inlet
to the end of sample tubing that is connected to the sample inlet
The sample tubing included in your shipment is lined internally with a material that
reduces electrostatic attraction and subsequent particle sticking. Cut it to the length
that meets your needs. It will fit over the sample inlet.
NOTE:
If the sample tubing is longer than 10 feet (3.05 meters),
Particle Measuring Systems cannot guarantee valid particle
measurement.
Also, if you intend to sample for particles greater than 5 μm, you
should not use any tubing at all.
For precise positioning and proper cleanroom isolation, you may choose to mount
the sample probe on a tripod or on a wall. The following accessories will help you
to precisely position the particle counter:
A floor tripod (Part No. MI008)
A table tripod (Part No. 1000000979)
