Chapter 2: Unpacking and Installation
If all of the materials are included and undamaged, store the packing materials. It
is important to store these materials because warranties may not apply if return
shipping containers are inadequate.
Installing the Particle Counter
The following sections are provided to assist in the installation of the Lasair II
particle counter.
Connecting the Power Source
The power input is a standard EIA fused power input of 100–240 VAC, 50–60 Hz.
A power cord is supplied with the Lasair II particle counter. The power cord for
European shipments may require the attachment of the appropriate wall plug,
according to the electrical requirements. Ensure the main supply is properly
grounded!
To connect power for the particle counter:
1 Plug the female end of the cord into the power inlet. The inlet is located on the
left side of the back panel.
2 Plug the 3-prong end of the cord into the power source.
NOTE:
The main power disconnect is the power cord. Ensure that it
is easily accessible!
Installing the Battery Pack
the Lasair II particle counter can be powered solely by an optional rechargeable
battery pack. The battery pack can be charged while it is installed in the particle
counter or outside the particle counter with its optional BC II battery charger.
CAUTION
Particle Measuring Systems recommends the use of a good quality surge
protector to isolate the particle counter from voltage spikes. Surge
protectors are inexpensive and easily obtainable from many office supply or
computer equipment sources.
