Older Touch RAM Buttons
Lasair II Particle Counter Operations Manual Page M-9
Setting TCP/IP Address with a Touch RAM Button
Touch RAM buttons with TCP/IP address do not contain all network parameters
used by the Lasair II particle counter. In particular the feature has the following
limitations:
It does not set a Gateway.
It does not set a Multicast Address.
These parameters must be set manually. When designing a network some
consideration should be given to sub-netting each Pharmaceutical Net system, and
keeping the Lasair II particle counter address in the same network. With this
technique, a gateway is not needed and the same multicast address can be used,
since each Pharmaceutical Net system will see only the local addresses.
Older Touch RAM Buttons
Older Touch RAM buttons may have a 0 (zero) in the TCP/IP address. That address
will be ignored when read.
Accessories
The following accessories can be used with the Lasair II particle counter.
Touch RAM button (memory storage) – Part No. 1000013036
These small magnetic buttons are approximately the size of a coin, and can
store information about the desired sampling parameters for the location
where the button is posted (typically, on a wall).
TouchRAM Wand (reader) – Part No. 1000013035
Passing the wand over the button to read the sampling parameters into the
Lasair II particle counter. Each button can be programmed for a specific
location by setting up the desired sample setting in the particle counter, and
then writing these sampling parameters first to the wand and then to the
button.
CAUTION
Allowing the Lasair II particle counter to reset its TCP/IP address with the
Touch RAM buttons introduces the possibility of multiple Lasair II particle
counter units with the same address. Procedures must be adopted to
ensure that multiple Lasair II particle counter instruments with the same
TCP/IP address are not connected to the network at the same time.
