8.3 Absorber and breathing system
components
AUTION
1 omponent removal and refttng must only be carred
out by qualfed servce personnel
2 Absorber assembly removal and sterlsaton - see
secton 838
3 The canster may contan condensate Before removal,
dran the canster and dspose of the absorbent - see
secton 835
4 Set the brakes on the machne castors
5 Dsconnect all cable connectors and hoses
6 Remove the components as descrbed n the followng
sectons
8.3.1 Renew the oxygen sensor (fuel cell sensor type)
WARNIN
1 Do not attempt to open a cell
The sensor contans lead, and a small quantty of
electrolyte, classfed as a harmful rrtant whch s
potentally hazardous
2 ALWAYS check the ntegrty of the sensor assembly
before use
3 Dspose of an exhausted sensor accordng to hosptal,
local, state and federal regulatons
1 Detach the cable connector (1) from the sensor (2)
2 Unscrew the sensor from the absorber, and dscard
Dspose of the used components accordng to hosptal,
local, state and federal regulatons
3 Screw the new sensor nto the absorber
4 Attach the cable connector (1)
5 albrate the new sensor - see secton 742
8.3.2 Remove the breathing hoses
1 Dsconnect the nspratory and expratory hoses from the
absorber
2 Separate the Y-pece from the two breathng tubes
AUTION
Do not reuse the heat and mosture exchanger / bacteral
flter
Follow local regulatons regardng dsposal of hosptal waste
when components are dscarded
8.3.3 Remove the bag
Remove the bag from the bag arm (3)
