3.4 Safety Devices and Systems
WARNIN
The gas supply falure systems wthn the anaesthetc
machne wll not necessarly operate as ndcated n ths
manual durng any procedures that are outsde the scope of
the ndcatons for use of the machne
Machne set to delver Oxygen only through Auxlary Outlets
1 The oxygen falure alarm s desgned to operate durng
normal use of the machne, e when provdng controlled
concentratons and flows of gases to a patent breathng
system, as descrbed n Secton 2 (Purpose)
2 Do not use the machne solely to provde large flows of
oxygen, va the anaesthetc machne auxlary outlets, to
external devces whch may not be equpped wth a supply
falure alarm
3.4.1 Fresh Gas Pressure Relief Valve
A pressure relef valve s ftted to prevent fresh gas beng
delvered to the breathng system at pressures exceedng 90
cmHO
3.4.2 Nitrous Oxide Supply Cut-off Device
A gas cut-off devce, trggered by low oxygen supply pressure,
cuts the supply of ntrous oxde The supply of ntrous oxde s
renstated only when the oxygen supply pressure rses above
the cut-off value
3.4.3 Oxygen Supply
3.4.3.1 Failure Warning Whistle
A whstle gves an audble warnng when there s a reducton
of oxygen supply pressure
The warnng whstle s operated solely by the remanng
oxygen n the machne system, and the warnng s prolonged
by an oxygen reservor bult nto the gas crcut, allowng a
mnmum warnng whstle of 7 seconds duraton
The whstle wll start to sound when the pressure falls to
200 ± 21 kPa (29 ± 3 psg), and wll contnue to sound untl
the pressure falls to approxmately 70 kPa (10 psg) Oxygen
consumpton of the whstle s approxmately 2 L/mn when
soundng and nl at other tmes
3.4.3.2 Oxygen Supply Visual Indicator
The ndcator (1) s mounted on the front of the machne and s
operated from the oxygen supply
The ndcator shows REEN when the supply s at workng
pressure, and RED f the pressure falls
