Prma 460 2 User Manual
1. Warnings and Cautions
The followng WARNINS and AUTIONS must be read and
understood before usng ths anaesthetc system
WARNINGS
eneral warnngs
1 The Prma 460 must not be altered or modfed n any way
wthout the wrtten approval of Penlon Lmted
2 To prevent patent nury n the event of total anaesthesa
system falure, mmedate access to an alternatve means
of ventlaton must be avalable whenever the system s
n use
3 On machnes wth ppelne connectons, note that a
malfuncton of the central gas supply wthn your faclty
may cause mmedate cessaton of gas delvery and total
anaesthesa system falure
4 Ths anaesthetc machne s desgned for use only wth
non-flammable anaesthetc agents It must not be used
wth or n close proxmty to flammable anaesthetc
agents, due to a possble fre or exploson hazard
5 Ths anaesthetc machne s not sutable for use n
oxygen-rch envronment
6 Exteror panels must not be removed by unauthorsed
personnel
Do not operate ths anaesthetc machne f exteror
panels are mssng
7 The Prma 460 must not be used f any of the alarm,
montorng or protecton system devces are not
functonng correctly
8 Addtonal equpment placed on the top shelf must be
securely attached
a) heck the stablty of the machne after fttng any
accessores
b) Take care when movng a fully loaded machne,
partcularly when negotatng ramps
c) heck that hoses or power leads are not obstructed,
or tralng on the floor
9 Accessores must be removed before the machne s
transported
10 MRI compatblty - Prma 460 Anaesthetc machnes are
not MRI compatble
11 Servce and/or mantenance actons must not be carred
out whle the Prma 460 s n use
12 The drvng gas s dscharged through the exhaust valve
port at the sde of the machne
The dscharged gas may contamnate the envronment,
and must be extracted usng a gas scavengng system
13 Always perform a pre-use check of the machne,
ncludng vaporzers and all montorng systems, before
clncal use
Follow the pre-use checklst as a mnmum requrement
14 The devce s not ntended for use n ntensve care
applcatons
Electrcal
1 There s a possble electrc shock hazard Make sure
that fuses and electrcal components are accessed by
authorsed personnel only
2 To solate the machne from the mans power supply,
dsconnect the flexble mans cable from the hosptal
power outlet
Always use a mans power outlet socket that can be
easly accessed
3 The Prma 460 Auxlary power outlets must not be ftted
wth more than three operator accessble plugs There s
a rsk of an excessve leakage current
When the user connects equpment to a machne
auxlary outlet a medcal electrcal system s created as
defned n IE 60601-1 Any resultng medcal electrcal
system must contnue to be complant wth IE 60601-1
4 Excessve electronc nose caused by other poorly
regulated devces, such as an electrocautery unt, may
adversely nterfere wth the proper functonng of the
ventlator
To avod ths problem, do not connect the machne’s
power cord nto the same electrcal wall outlet or adaptor
strp nto whch an electrocautery unt s connected
5 If used wth a mans extenson cord, the unt may be
subect to electro-magnetc nterference
6 Portable RF communcatons equpment (ncludng
perpherals such as antenna cables and external
antennas) should be used no closer than 30 cm (12
nches) to any part of the ventlator, ncludng cables
specfed by the manufacturer Otherwse, degradaton of
the performance of ths equpment could result
7 To avod the rsk of electrc shock, ths equpment must
be connected to a mans supply wth a protectve earth
Before any electrcally powered machne s used
clncally for the frst tme, check that the hosptal
engneerng department has carred out an earth
contnuty test
If the ntegrty of the protectve conductor s n doubt, the
machne must not be used
8 Before you use any addtonal electrcal equpment
powered by the auxlary sockets on the machne, check
that the addtonal equpment s correctly wred and s
earthed through ts plug
9 A mssng or defectve protectve earth conductor may
ncrease earth leakage currents to the patent to values
exceedng the allowable lmts, resultng n ventrcular
fbrllaton, or nterference wth the pumpng acton of the
heart
10 Use of a Multple Socket-Outlet or an Extenson ord
connected to the auxlary sockets on the machne s
prohbted
