6.5.3 Leak Test / Compliance Value Calculation
Leak Test
1 Press the menu swtch (1) on the front panel
2 Select LEAK TEST, n Standby Mode
3 Wth the bag/vent control (2) n VENT poston, ths checks
for a leak usng an occluded breathng system
NOTE
a) If ftted, dsconnect gas samplng modules connected
to patent montorng equpment durng ths test
b) Ths procedure checks the breathng system for
pressure leakage, and calculates and dsplays Leak
Level and Breathng System omplance
4 Occlude the breathng crcut at the patent Y-pece
5 Ensure that the absorber Bag/Vent control (2) s swtched
to the Vent poston, and the bellows are fully nflated
6 heck that the bag (3) s removed
Dsconnect the fresh gas hose from the outlet (4 or 5) on
the anaesthetc machne and connect t to the end of the
bag arm (6)
7 Press the menu swtch (1)
8 Select LEAK TEST from the man menu
9 Select <START/STOP LEAK TEST> to start the leak test
The ventlator wll now drve gas nto the absorber untl
a pressure of 30 cmHO s obtaned, and then hold that
pressure for approxmately 25 seconds before releasng
the pressure and completng the test
10 The menu wll dsplay the leak test results
a) Leak Level Leak rate s dsplayed
NOTE
Durng the test, any pressure drop dscovered once the 30
cmHO level s reached wll be dsplayed as a possble leak
by the ventlator self-test
Ths ncludes pressure drop due to the relaxaton of
any elastc components n the breathng system (eg a
breathng bag)
b) BSys omp omplance
BSys omp s the complance of the breathng system
and s the value that wll be used n provdng the
default complance compensaton for volume delvery
NOTE
a) Default value s 70 cmHO
Upper lmt s 18 cmHO (suffcent for normal
breathng system capactes)
b) The ventlator wll contnue to operate, rrespectve of
any detected leak
c) It is the responsibility of the user to determine if the
detected leak is significant.
