5. Commissioning
5.1 Warnings
WARNIN
1 ommssonng for a new machne must be carred out by
a Penlon-traned engneer
2 Pre-use checks must be performed before each perod of
clncal use
3 To avod the rsk of electrc shock, ths system must only
be connected to a mans supply wth a protectve earth
Before any electrcally powered machne s used
clncally for the frst tme, the hosptal engneerng
department must carry out an earth contnuty test
4 Addtonal equpment placed on the top shelf must be
securely attached
5 MRI compatblty - Prma 460 s not MRI compatble
6 Ths machne must only be used wth Selectatec-
compatble vaporzers nstalled on the backbar
Free-standng vaporzers may be accdentally tpped,
resultng n excessve and uncalbrated volumes of
anaesthetc drug enterng the breathng system
7 The anaesthesa system must be connected to an
anaesthetc gas scavengng system (ASS) to dspose
of waste gas and prevent possble health hazards to
operatng room staff
Ths requrement must be observed durng test
procedures as well as durng use wth a patent
AUTION
The data output ports must only be connected to equpment
complyng wth IE safety standards (eg IE 60950) whch
are then confgured to comply wth IE 60601-1 (Medcal
Systems) Refer to secton 315
NOTE
Pre-use checks must be supplemented by perodc Functon
Testng, and full Servce Testng All testng must be carred out
by a Penlon-traned engneer to the Servce Schedule gven n
the Prma 460 Servce Manual
These checks wll not n themselves ensure the safe use of the
apparatus, whch remans the responsblty of the qualfed
practtoner n charge of t
