7.2 Absorber Pre-use Checks
7.2.1 Absorber pre-use checklist
omplete tests 1 to 12 pror to frst daly use
omplete tests 5 to 12 before each clncal procedure
Test Remarks
arry out the procedures detaled n sectons 7211 to 7216 n the order lsted
heck that the manometer s zeroed before use
1 Inspect hoses, seals and power cables for damage
2 Vsual nspecton of the absorbant
Inspect the absorbant, replace f necessary
3 Absorber securty check
Before refttng the canster, check that the sealng surfaces
are clean and dust free
Ensure that the canster s sealed securely when reftted
4 Breathng crcut hose nstallaton check
heck that the fresh gas hose s connected to the machne
5 Absorber leak test
6 APL valve functon check
7 NRV functon check
8 Bag/Ventlator swtch test heck for correct operaton
9 Heater test
10 Leak test wth canster removed
11 Absorber leak test
12 arry out all machne pre-use checks
7.2.1.1 Leak Test - Patient circuit fitted
NOTE
The Prma 460 must be ftted wth a patent crcut complyng
wth approved desgn parameters, at the selecton of the
qualfed practtoner
The patent crcut components do not consttute part of the
machne but connectons between the machne and breathng
system should be verfed as follows
Procedure
1 Fresh gas supply - see secton 6313
onnect the hose to the fresh gas nlet at the front or rear
of the absorber (see secton 38)
2 Ft a patent crcut to the nspratory connector (1) and
expratory connector (2) on the absorber
Ft a breathng bag (3) to the bag arm connector (3)
3 Set the bag/ventlator swtch (4) on the absorber to ‘Bag’
4 lose the adustable pressure lmtng (APL) valve (5), and
occlude the patent connecton port on the patent crcut
5 Press and hold the oxygen flush valve button (6) on the
front of the machne brefly
heck that the bag (3) nflates and the manometer (7)
ndcates approxmately 40 cmHO
6 Release the oxygen flush valve button (6)
heck that the pressure s mantaned n the system
wth less than 200 ml/mn fresh gas delvered nto the
breathng system, showng that no leaks are present
