7.4 Oxygen Monitor System Set-up (fuel cell
type)
NOTE
If a Masmo OR+ Module wth paramagnetc O montorng s
used, the fuel cell sensor s dsabled
7.4.1 Installation
Ft the oxygen sensor probe (1) to the absorber
onnect the cable to the nput socket (2) on the sde of the
machne, adacent to the patent block
WARNIN
The sensor contans a small quantty of electrolyte, classfed
as a harmful rrtant whch s potentally hazardous Do not
attempt to open a cell
ALWAYS check the ntegrty of the sensor assembly before use
Once exhausted, the sensor must be dsposed of accordng to
hosptal, local, state and federal regulatons
NOTE
To mantan maxmum sensor lfe
1 Always dsconnect the breathng crcut after use
2 Swtch off the machne to cut-off the basal flow through the
system
Heat and mosture exchanger (HME) and Bacteral flter
An effectve, new heat and mosture exchanger wth a bacteral
flter should be used for every patent Ft to the expratory lmb
of the breathng crcut to protect the oxygen sensor (see also
secton 6314)
AUTION
Replacement/Dsposal - follow the nstructons suppled wth
the flter Always replace at the recommended nterval
7.4.2 Calibration
albrate a new unt before clncal use
Thereafter, as a safety precauton, we recommend calbraton
of the unt every tme the system s swtched on
albraton must also be performed
1 When the sensor s replaced
2 When pont-of-use elevaton changes by more than 160 m
(500 feet)
Note that alttude compensaton s automatcally appled durng
calbraton
The calbraton process requres calbraton at the prmary pont
of 100% oxygen (see secton 7421)
To provde enhanced accuracy there s an optonal secondary
pont at 21% oxygen, usng medcal ar (or room ar, see 7422),
whch can be carred out after the prmary calbraton n 100%
oxygen
Note that the system swtch (1) must be n the ON poston for
gas delvery
