5.5 Vaporizers
NOTE
1 Read the vaporzer nstructon manual before clncal use
2 Up to two Selectatec-compatble vaporzers may be ftted
5.5.1 Mount the vaporizer

1 Vaporzers must always be mounted, n e v e r used f r ee-
s t a n dng
Free standng vaporzers may be accdentally tpped
resultng n excessve and uncalbrated volumes of
anaesthetc drug enterng the breathng system
2 Do not nstall or connect any vaporzer of any descrpton
between the O and the breathng system, unless t
s specfcally desgned for such use (ths allows the
oxygen flush flow to pass through the vaporzer, and
severe overdosage may result)
1 arefully algn the vaporzer wth the valves (1) on the
backbar manfold
AUTION
heck that the gas connecton ports (2) on the vaporzer
are algned wth the valves (1) on the manfold and are
correctly engaged
2 arefully lower the vaporzer onto the manfold
3 Lock the vaporzer nto poston by clockwse rotaton of
the lockng lever (3) through 90
°

NOTE
Do not use excessve force to lock the vaporzer onto the
manfold Damage to the lockng shaft (4) wll result
5.5.2 Pre-use Checks - Vaporizers
On ALL vaporzers, before use
1 heck all onts for gas tghtness
2 heck vaporzer agent level
3 heck for correct agent delvery concentratons - use an
agent analyser
heck the nterlock mechansm of each vaporzer, e check
that only one vaporzer at a tme can be turned on when two
vaporzers are ftted
NOTE
1 The machne low pressure test (refer to secton 6313)
ncorporates a vaporzer leak test
2 Always follow the procedures and checklst gven n the
nstructon manual suppled wth the vaporzer, partcularly
when fllng the vaporzer wth anaesthetc agent
