Operating the Anaesthesia System
8 heck that sprometer readngs, once settled, show
correct delvery of 600 ±20 ml
9 Remove the breathng bag and occlude the patent ‘Y’
pece
The HIH AIRWAY PRESSURE alarm should be actvated
The peak pressure, as dsplayed on the breathng system
pressure gauge, s the maxmum workng arway pressure
lmt and should agree wth the set value
10 Open the patent ‘Y’ pece to ambent pressure At second
cycle, the LOW AIRWAY PRESSURE alarm should actvate
11 If the ventlator passes all the above tests select the
requred settngs for use
12 Select STANDBY mode
Before usng the ventlator clncally, check that all system
connectons are correct, and verfy that there are no leaks
13 If the ventlator fals any of the tests Do not use the
system ontact a servce engneer
Do not use the ventlator f there s any malfuncton
If the problem cannot be rectfed, the ventlator must be
checked by a traned engneer

1 Do not use the oxygen flush durng nspraton
2 If ‘Ventlator Inoperatve’ alarm s actvated, ventlate
the patent wth a breathng bag or back-up system
3 In complance wth good anaesthesa practce, an
alternatve means of ventlaton must be avalable
whenever the ventlator s n use
7.3.3.3 Manual Delivery of Fresh Gas - Test
heck that the patent can be ventlated f the mans supply
has faled and the back-up battery s dscharged
1 Swtch off the ventlator
2 Set the bag/vent swtch (1) on the absorber to ‘Bag’
3 Set a flow of 5 L/mn on the anaesthetc machne
4 Use the breathng bag on the absorber to delver a flow
5 heck that fresh gas flows from the nspratory port (2)
