Operating the Anaesthesia System
8 heck that sprometer readngs, once settled, show
correct delvery of 600 ±20 ml
9 Remove the breathng bag and occlude the patent ‘Y’
pece
The HIH AIRWAY PRESSURE alarm should be actvated
The peak pressure, as dsplayed on the breathng system
pressure gauge, s the maxmum workng arway pressure
lmt and should agree wth the set value
10 Open the patent ‘Y’ pece to ambent pressure At second
cycle, the LOW AIRWAY PRESSURE alarm should actvate
11 If the ventlator passes all the above tests select the
requred settngs for use
12 Select STANDBY mode
Before usng the ventlator clncally, check that all system
connectons are correct, and verfy that there are no leaks
13 If the ventlator fals any of the tests Do not use the
system ontact a servce engneer
Do not use the ventlator f there s any malfuncton
If the problem cannot be rectfed, the ventlator must be
checked by a traned engneer

1 Do not use the oxygen flush durng nspraton
2 If ‘Ventlator Inoperatve’ alarm s actvated, ventlate
the patent wth a breathng bag or back-up system
3 In complance wth good anaesthesa practce, an
alternatve means of ventlaton must be avalable
whenever the ventlator s n use
7.3.3.3 Manual Delivery of Fresh Gas - Test
heck that the patent can be ventlated f the mans supply
has faled and the back-up battery s dscharged
1 Swtch off the ventlator
2 Set the bag/vent swtch (1) on the absorber to ‘Bag’
3 Set a flow of 5 L/mn on the anaesthetc machne
4 Use the breathng bag on the absorber to delver a flow
5 heck that fresh gas flows from the nspratory port (2)
