Safety Precautions
WARNING
Securely connect the power cord.
If they are loosely connected, heat may be generated at the connected part, voltage drop can occur and the
instrument may not operate normally. Furthermore, unexpected accidents or injuries can occur.
Before using the instrument, be sure to always check for the use of a correct power cord
and specified voltage.
If an incorrect power cord is used, fire, instrument malfunction due to voltage drop, unexpected accidents or
injuries can occur.
Do not store or use the instrument in a humid or dusty place.
Using the instrument in a humid or dusty place may cause its parts to deteriorate, short-circuit, fire, etc. The
installation humidity range is 85% or below (non-condensing).
Thoroughly check the installation location before installing the instrument.
Install the Polar® instrument on a flat, non-slippery sturdy floor or bench free from vibration and having a
sufficient size. If the installation location is tilted or too small, unexpected accidents may occur.
Turn off the power before cleaning the instrument.
Unless otherwise instructed in this document, always turn off the power before cleaning the instrument.
Install the instrument in a well-ventilated cool place.
Do not block the exhaust vent (radiation vent) with a wall or object or use the instrument in a poorly
ventilated place or with the dustproof covers still attached, because heat will be trapped in the instrument
and cause abnormal overheating, potentially causing fire, accident, failure, etc.
Do not directly touch with hands, etc. those areas whose temperature drops to low
levels.
Never directly touch with hands, etc. the chamber and other locations subject to extremely low
temperatures. Frostbite may occur. When touching the chamber, wear gloves or use dry, thick cloths. It is
recommended to wear thick rubber gloves for safety.
Be sure to lock the handwheel and various levers and put the blade guard on when the
instrument is not in use.
A disposable blade is set in the blade holder. When setting a tissue sample, unexpected movement of the
specimen head (specimen holder) or blade holder may cause injury. Even when the instrument is not in use,
be sure to lock the handwheel and various levers and put the blade guard on. Also, always wear protective
gears when using the instrument.
Do not open the window during the ozone disinfection cycle.
Ozone gas generates in the chamber during the ozone cycle. Ozone is potentially harmful to the human
body, so do not open the window until ozone decomposition treatment is completed.
Turn off the power should malfunction occur.
If the motor malfunctions or generates abnormal noise or the ozone lamp turns on erroneously, immediately
turn off the power and contact the nearest authorized Sakura distributor or representative.
Install the instrument in such a way that operation of the power switch will not be obstructed.
Use a cooling spray containing HFC-134a gas.
Do not use a cooling spray containing butane or propane. Use of such sprays may cause instrument
malfunction. When a cooling spray is used, use a cooling spray containing HFC-134a
(1,1,1,2-Tetrafluoroethane) as a main component.
