4.10 Mason-Likar modified (exercise ECG)
For exercise testing, place electrodes C1 to C6 in the same positions as for the
standard resting ECG detailed above, and place the RA, LA, LL and N electrodes as
follows:
– LL on the left torso at the bottom of the rib cage
– RL (N) on right torso at the bottom of the rib cage
– LA and RR, place either on the back above the scapula or on the front just below
the clavicle

at the left and right mid-clavicular lines.

The ECG recorded with the torso placement of the limb lead electrodes may differ
from that recorded with the electrodes on the limbs. Affected characteristics are the
Q-waves and the frontal axes, whereas ST levels are unlikely to change.
