Workpiece zero
The workpiece zero is the starting point for the -> workpiece
coordinate system. It is defined in terms of the distance from the
machine zero.

Zero offset
Specification of a new reference point for a coordinate system through
reference to an existing zero point and a -> frame.
1. adjustable
SINUMERIK FM-NC: Four independent zero offsets can be
selected for each CNC axis.
SINUMERIK 840D: A configurable number of adjustable zero

selected via G functions are effective on an alternating basis.
2. external
In addition to all displacements which define the position of the
workpiece zero point, an external zero offset can be superimposed
via
- a handwheel (DRF offset) or
- the PLC.
