Height-of-Cut Adjustment (HOC)
See Figure 8-15.

CAUTION
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-5.)
NOTE
The bedknife-to-reel clearance should be properly
adjusted before adjusting the cutting height. (See
“Bedknife-to-Reel Adjustment” on page 8-14.)
2. Retract the kickstand and allow the mower to rest on
the traction roller or transport wheels.
NOTICE
3. Tip mower back on traction drum or tires. Support the
mower to prevent it from tipping

4. Loosen lock nut (9) on the side of front roller bracket
(8) just enough to allow adjusting knob (1) to raise or
lower the bracket.
5. Set height-of-cut bar (6) to desired height-of-cut (2)
by measuring between the underside of screw head
and height-of-cut bar surface and tighten wing nut
(4).
6. Place height-of-cut bar (6) across bottom of front and
rear rollers (7 and 5) near one end.
7. Slide the head of the gauge screw over the bedknife
(3).
8. Turn adjusting knob (1) to close the gap between the
front and rear rollers (7 and 5) and height-of-cut bar
(6).
9. Tighten lock nut (9).
10. Repeat steps 4 through 9 on opposite end of front
roller (7).
11. Recheck each end with height-of-cut bar and
readjust as necessary.
To prevent personal injury and damage to the
cutting edges, handle the reel with extreme care.
Required Tools
Height-of-Cut Gauge Bar (Jacobsen PN 158568)
Gen-Set Models: Before tipping mower back for
service, the fuel lever must be moved to the OFF
position to prevent fuel from leaking into the
crankcase. Do not leave the mower tipped back
for an extended length of time or oil may migrate
into the combustion chamber.
