Reel Assembly
Removal

1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on

NOTICE
2. Remove cutting unit from mower. (See “Cutting Unit”

3. Remove bedknife backing assembly. (See “Bedknife
Backing Assembly” on page 8-22.)
4. Remove cutting unit front roller. (See “Cutting Unit
Front Roller” on page 8-33.)
5. Remove grass shield. (See “Grass Shield” on
page 8-21.)
6. Remove left reel bearing housing assembly. (See
“Left Reel Bearing Housing Assembly” on
page 8-28.)
7. Remove right reel bearing housing assembly. (See
“Right Reel Bearing Housing Assembly” on
page 8-25.)

1. Install reel (1) into frame (2).
2. Install the right reel bearing housing. (See “Right
Reel Bearing Housing Assembly” on page 8-25.)
3. Install the left reel bearing housing. (See “Left Reel
Bearing Housing Assembly” on page 8-28.)
4. Adjust the reel bearing pre-load. (See “Reel Bearing
Pre-Load Adjustment” on page 8-18.)
5. Install grass shield. (See “Grass Shield” on
page 8-21.)
6. Install cutting unit front roller. (See “Cutting Unit Front
Roller” on page 8-33.)
7. Install bedknife backing assembly. (See “Bedknife
Backing Assembly” on page 8-22.)
8. Install cutting unit to mower. (See “Cutting Unit” on
page 8-20.)
Gen-Set Models: Before tipping mower back for
service, the fuel lever must be moved to the OFF
position to prevent fuel from leaking into the
crankcase. Do not leave the mower tipped back
for an extended length of time or oil may migrate
into the combustion chamber.
To prevent personal injury and damage to the
cutting edges, handle the reel with extreme care.
