Reel Motor Test
See Figure 4-34.
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-5.)
2. Back the bedknife away from reel.
(See “Bedknife-to-Reel Adjustment” on page 8-14.)
3. For battery pack powered mowers, remove power
module. (See “Battery Tray and Power Module
Mount” on page 4-69.)
4. For gen-set powered mowers, remove engine. (See
“Engine” on page 3-4.)

5. Cut cable ties (4).
NOTE
Label all wires before disconnecting to ensure correct
installation.
6. Disconnect traction motor harness connectors (3)
from traction control unit harness connectors (2).
7. Disconnect reel motor harness connectors (5) from
reel control unit harness connectors (1).
8. Connect reel motor harness connectors (5) to
traction control unit harness connectors (2). Do not
connect traction motor harness connectors (3).
9. For battery pack powered mowers, install power
module. (See “Battery Tray and Power Module
Mount” on page 4-69.)
10. For gen-set powered mowers, install engine. (See
“Engine” on page 3-4.)
11. Move key switch to the start/on position, engage
Operator Presence Control (OPC) bail, and increase
machine speed with speed paddle.
Does reel motor engage?
YES Reel motor is good.
NO Reel motor is faulty; replace the reel motor.
12. Disengage OPC bail and move key switch to the off
position.
13. For battery pack powered mowers, remove power
module. (See “Battery Tray and Power Module
Mount” on page 4-69.)
14. For gen-set powered mowers, remove engine. (See
“Engine” on page 3-4.)
15. Disconnect reel motor harness connectors (5) from
traction control unit harness connectors (2).
16. Connect reel motor harness connectors (5) to reel
control unit harness connectors (1).
17. Connect traction motor harness connectors (3) to
traction control unit harness connectors (2).
18. Install new cable ties (4).
19. For battery pack powered mowers, install power
module. (See “Battery Tray and Power Module
Mount” on page 4-69.)
20. For gen-set powered mowers, install engine. (See
“Engine” on page 3-4.)
21. Adjust bedknife-to-reel contact.
(See “Bedknife-to-Reel Adjustment” on page 8-14.)
