Left Reel Bearing Housing Assembly
Removal
See Figures 8-39 through 8-41.
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-5.)
2. Remove cutting unit from mower. (See “Cutting Unit”
on page 8-20.)
3. Remove cutting unit front roller. (See “Cutting Unit
Front Roller” on page 8-33.)
4. Remove grass shield. (See “Grass Shield” on
page 8-21.)

5. Remove screws (1) and washers (2).
6. Remove counterweight (3).

7. Remove screw (10), lock washer (11), washer (9),
and spacer (8).
8. Remove screws (5), washers (6), and nuts (7).
9. Remove seal (12).

10. Remove nut (13).
11. Remove washer (14) and spring (15).
12. Rotate reel bearing housing (16) to align grease
fitting (4) with the clearance hole in the frame, and
remove reel bearing housing from frame using reel
bearing housing puller (Jacobsen PN JAC5085).
13. Inspect the reel shaft for wear or damage. Replace
reel if needed. (See “Reel Assembly” on page 8-31.)
